Tutorials Guidelines

This document contains information and guidelines for Tutorials lecturers, within PIMRC 2023.

Goal

A Tutorial aims at giving attendees the possibility to get in depth information on a given topic.  Tutorials may address one or more Tracks, but they should be organised under a unified theme.

Proposal

Download the Tutorial Proposal Template

The proposal for a Tutorial should follow the template, indicating the following information:

  • Proposer’s Name
  • Proposer’s Institution
  • Proposer’s Email
  • Proposer’s Phone Number
  • Names of all lecturers who will deliver the tutorial
  • Biographies of all the lecturers
  • Tutorial Title
  • Motivation and Context
  • Structure and Content
  • Duration
  • Conference Track(s)
  • Key Bibliography
  • Level/Pre-requisites
  • Previous Editions

The proposal should be sent to Tutorials Co-Chairs via email:  wzhuang@uwaterloo.ca; loureiro@dcc.ufmg.br; filipe.cardoso@estsetubal.ips.pt.

  • as a *.PDF attachment,
  • as a file named as the Tutorial title (abbreviated, if necessary),
  • by the deadline, March 18th, 2023.

Structure

The structure of a Tutorial is not fixed, and proposers may design it as they think best.  Proposers are responsible for defining the full contents of the Tutorial.

Schedule

Tutorials will be held in the day prior to conference start, i.e., on Sept. 5th, 2023.

Duration

Tutorials may extend for either a full- or a half-day (i.e., four or two conference times-slots, each time slot being 1h30).

The following information will be made public:

  • Proposer’s Name
  • Proposer’s Institution
  • Names of all lecturers who will deliver the tutorial
  • Biographies of all the lecturers
  • Tutorial Title
  • Motivation and Context
  • Structure and Content
  • Duration
  • Key Bibliography
  • Level/Pre-requisites
  • Previous Editions

Evaluation

The following criteria will be taken into consideration for the evaluation and ranking of Tutorial proposals:

  1. Relevance
  2. Timeliness
  3. Technical Content
  4. Prerequisites
  5. Overall Recommendation.

Tutorials Co-Chairs will conduct the evaluation.

Cancellation

The Tutorial may be cancelled if there are not enough registrations.

Registration

Each tutorial lecturer is offered one-day complementary Tutorial Registration.
